i though of getting yamato shrimps to control my algea problem. My Oto and SAE is not doin the job well. But i am afraid that the fishes in my tank will eat up the shrimps. I got 1 puffer, 5 tretra(cant identify, orange, about 4cm), 1 angel, 2 flame gourmai, 1 gold gourmai, 3 SAE, 2 Oto.
Can anyone share their expericence wif shrimps? THANX!
Your tetra quite big leh. Think you be better off buying bigger shrimps.
My Beacon Tetra (3cm) have an expensive dinner one day when i introduce cherry shrimp. once i put in the shrimp, they attack it and eat it. so far, no problem with yamato, not sure because of it's bigger size or color not attractive to them.
From your list of fish you have, the potential shrimps eater are: puffer (larger ones) and angels.
BTW, yamato are not likely to be the solution for your algae problem.

oic, i bought 3 Oto, but one died shortly, and one disappear. Some of my plants are covered wif patches of brown stains... so i though buying some shrimps to clear up the algea... if not.. do u hav a better idea to share?
In fact, otos are the best candidate for clearing up brown algae.
Light, fertilisation and CO2 are three important elements that when you keep in correct proportions will keep algae away.
