Can boil driftwood in water.
I bought a driftwood with some Java fern on it and some plants from Teos
Wash them and put them in my tank and after a while i see little insects crawling around on the gravel..look like little cockroaches..i killed those i can see and I suspect its they are from the driftwood.....
Took out the driftwood and am soaking it in a pail.....
Could anyone tell me how I can treat the driftwood to kill what ever insects are left in it?
Can boil driftwood in water.
Teo's driftwoods are left out in the open so might have other creatures on it.
I never thought of usingboiling water. Thanks for the tips.

Wont using boiling water kill off the plants already on the wood?
They are already enrooted on the wood....
anyway to kill the insects without killing the plants?
Java fern is quite hardy, so you may use a mild solution of potassium permangate for soaking for a few days. I believe java fern should still be alive after this.
Sorry, did not notice that you have Java fern attached to the wood..[] What about this method: soak the driftwood in 5% breach-water solution for 15 min. I used this method to rid algae and my plants survived.
Don't forget to rinse with anti-chlorine after that.
Thanks for the advice...appreciate it...
Decided to just soak the wood in boiling water......sigh...buggers were crawling out of the wood even after 2-3 wash and spraying...i just hope there is none hiding in my bathroom
Boiling water will sure "cook" your java fern. You are going to lose the plant.
