I bought a driftwood with some Java fern on it and some plants from Teos

Wash them and put them in my tank and after a while i see little insects crawling around on the gravel..look like little cockroaches..i killed those i can see and I suspect its they are from the driftwood.....

Took out the driftwood and am soaking it in a pail.....

Could anyone tell me how I can treat the driftwood to kill what ever insects are left in it?

Teo's driftwoods are left out in the open so might have other creatures on it.

I never thought of usingboiling water. Thanks for the tips.

Java fern is quite hardy, so you may use a mild solution of potassium permangate for soaking for a few days. I believe java fern should still be alive after this.

Sorry, did not notice that you have Java fern attached to the wood..[] What about this method: soak the driftwood in 5% breach-water solution for 15 min. I used this method to rid algae and my plants survived.

Don't forget to rinse with anti-chlorine after that.

Boiling water will sure "cook" your java fern. You are going to lose the plant.
