sound like air lock, do you use surface skimmer?
Hi
I bought a Eheim 2213 just 2 months back.
Everything alright on day 1. The canister is super quiet and the flow rate is strong.
However, recently, I found that the flow rate became smaller and the canister will have a lot of water sound. After some research, I suspect that it may be the O-ring issue and re-do the setup again.
Managed to get it back to its original quiet and strong flow rate last Monday.
However, after 5-6 days, the canister has that water sound again and the flow rate almost reduce by 50%.
Is this something anyone had encountered before? Or is this a manufacture issue and return it for repair?
Appreciate your help.![]()

No surface skimmer used.
Just took out the canister, top up with water to minimize water bubbles inside canister. On/off the power a few times until no air inside canister and water flow is strong. Now ok for the time being.
Wonder it will come back again after a couple of day...![]()
Did your put your filter under your tank? does you inject CO2 near the inlet?
I used to use a pump to pump water into the inlet of the 2213 for abt 1 min then On it.
No bubbles coming out for outlet and flow is ok.
I think I might have found the issues....silly of me...
1. There are truly a lot of air inside the canister.
2. Went on to dismantle the whole tank and set up the canister again.
3. Primed the canister but the air bubbles never seems to finish.
4. Off the power, held the inlet/outlet tubes high and let the air bubbles escaped.
5. On the power, still can find air bubbles, so shake the canister to get more bubble out.
6. On and Off the canister a couple of times.
7. But bubbles never seems to finish. Tighten the inlet and outlet valve (with all my strength) at the canister.
8. Ha...water bubbles gradually escaped and the tubes have no more bubbles.
I think that I too "soft" and did not tighten the valve to prevent the air from entering.....
Hopefully, this will be end of my 2213 issues....
If anyone read this and face this issue, you may want to tighten the valve first !
Ha ha ha ha....
happy shrimping.
i find prime a rather useless function.
another way to get water into your empty canister.
1 - filled up your tank with water.
2 - Put in your inlet into tank and all tubes in place.
3 - give a good suck at the outlet tube.
And gradually the water will filled up your canister and out from the outlet tube. After water came out from your outlet, you can put in our rainbar/lily pipe at the outlet tube.
