You can try using moss... Or get fissedien on mesh they look nice too...
Hi can anybody tell me what is the best low light carpet plant that can i can use? Planning a rescape using soil but without co2 and chiller and low light about 1-2wpg.
Thought of using dwarf hairgrass but i search online and they seems to need a bit more light den my current lightset can handle. Preferably those that i can just plant it into the soil without tying on mesh

APP or hairgrass maybe?
Light condition affect how they grow.
Moss type would fit nicely, but you don't wish to tie to mesh.
Second to that. Why buy ready tied ones?

Moss for the win
i want a grassy feel in my tank. So is APP a low light grass plant?
A moss mesh would be the best here..
but i want to try to put in grass
If you want the grass-like feeling with the foreground carpet plant, you can try hairgrass, but they will need a stronger light. Other choices like APP (Elatine Triandra), Dwarf Sagittaria (Sagittaria Subulata, a rather undemanding plant), Echino Tenellus, Lilaeopsis Brasiliensis, Crypto Parva or even Staurogyne sp. They all give a grassy look to the foreground.

My 2 ft tank
Flora: Anubias barteri var Nana, var "Gold" and "mini", Crypto Wendtii, C.parva, Marsilea Hirsuta, Flame Moss, Hygrophila Polysperma, H.Violacea & H.Corymbosa, US Fissiden
Fauna: Guppy, Pelvicachromis Pulcher, Nannacara Anomala, Laetacara Araguaiae 'Buckelkopf'
Crypto parva is readily available at C328. You can combine dwarf Sagittaria with C.parva, it looks quite nice of them together.

Try e.tenellus, they do well in low tech tanks; but the growth may be slow if your light is too weak and may grow upwards just like any grass. Really easy plant with carpeting effect by growing runners to over take your soil surface. Some dose of excel will help if you do not have CO2 injection and reasonable amount of lighting (low to mid).
