Any bro can advice what is the lowest PH range that CRS can survive? Reason for asking is that my new setup using ADA new amazonia and powersand gives me a very low PH of range 5.6 - 6. Need to know if they can take such a low PH. Thanks.

Not sure there is a lowest but at that ph their coloration are not at their best. Ph 6 still okie but below 6 depend on the source you got and how the previous breeder or seller kept than in what condition.

They will survive but not looking at the best if low ph. I not sure about your crs sources. but I used to buy from a guy that keep this crs in 6.1-6.2. my tank was 5.8. they survive and breed.

Haha.. All your PH is not considered low.. My shrimps are in PH4.3-4.5 conditions..

Active, colors never lose or crack & getting berried normally.. Believe some bros came and seen my shrimps before..

    Happy shrimping....

Hahaha.. Testing the limits of shrimps I guess..

Previously blue pearl, rili & blue rili are in these conditions too.. Survive but breeding slows down.. CRS can breed..

Salute to you bro. Testing the limit of your CRS and other shrimps. So actually not much people know how low CRS can go. Think so far you're the man bro. Don't think anyone can beat your record.

Not really testing.. I didn't realize the PH can go that low when I reset my tanks.. But they are surviving well & even better then previously..

But since they can do well in my current parameters, I never go touch already.. PH will slowly be pulled up after awhile, but currently still at this PH with no changes.. By the way, PH meter was calibrated a few times with PH7 & PH4 calibration liquid to make sure my meter wasn't spoilt (I thought it was..)

Ask already but the person who did it mia.

I think the low ph will decrease bb activities.

Container? I will want to provide a good stable parameter for them.. Container unless it's big enough for me to do water change with no drastic change in parameter.. But overall, no.. A good set up is still vital for their well-being..

Read somewhere in one thread that BB will start to die if lower than PH 6. Is this true or only slow down as you say Bro?

Bro ET, I also want to know.. Haha.. I think my bb all died don't know how many rounds already if they really all die off.. Hahaha..

Guys, in my own setup, shrimps are still producing, so I guess my bb in the tank & filtration is still there... I don't know how to gauge if there is any bb deaths also... Hahaha..

    Re: Lowest PH for CRS

bacterial pressure is lowered in acid pH ranges.

ie to say, it can prevent any bad bacterial as well. bro alvinchan, your sump has alot of media to house them. so i dont think thats is a problem for you. hehe

If you buy those or passby LFS have a look at those liquid BB bottle on it will write there the recommendation.

I recall one putting inorder for the right condition.

Ph 7 room temperture aka 28 i presume. And they say it will grow very fast.

I haven't personally try cause we have soil to buffer down. Unless you are considering soiless cycling than maybe use distill or tapwater throw in a few sponge run canister and let it seed. It going to be troublesome provided you have enough pail to use back at least 50% of water also majority of soil have ammonia so after you have put in the soil maybe the BB will be seeded and grow fast enough with the ammonia leech from soil.

Too troublesome bro. So I assume with good media and sump, BB is still there like Bro Eviltrain states.

bro Noobz, i think not everyone will agree that sump is a good filtration for shrimps.. but I am using sump for my shrimp tanks.. as for media wise, I am using what everyone is using, nothing special... which means everyone has good medias too!! haha...

    happy shrimping....
