Hi, sorry. I noticed ive this particular pc of shrimp which is also the biggest in the tank i house them in. It has this like greyish thick lines coating from just below the head till its tail. Tried surfing the net and couldnt find an answer. Any kind shifus can help me out?

Some of my Sakura have a line very alike to the malayans I'm keeping. It should be a Malayan shrimp trait to my knowlage.
I saw somewhere in the forum that cherry + Malayan = wild cherry
Sakura = cherry bred using selective breeding.

malaya shrimp : Caridina sp. "Malaya"
Red Cherry Shrimp | Neocaridina heterpoda var. red
Fire Red Cherry Shrimp | Neocaridina heterpoda var. fire red
you can notice some fire red has stripe down their back. Yes, malaya and cherries are similar. But, they are under different species.

Those are pretty colors. Mine are dark red color. So when i saw the Greyish coating I gt worried. But all seems well. Noticed a couple of them having saddles below their head too. Can't wait for them to start breeding.
Got another question, any1 tried rearing harlequin rasboras together with cherries / sakura / fire red?
Tried that before. Rasboras will eat up all the shrimplets eventually in spite of the many hiding place available in the rocks and plants.
If you want to the shrimplets to survive, then don't put Rasboras in. However, Rasboras will not attack the adult shrimps.

If you really wanted to put some fish in there, you could try boraras brigittae. I have some in my tank and I've watched them for hours, literally and they don't seem to be interested in the shrimplets. They'll go really close to the shrimplet and turn away after. Or maybe they knew I was watching them and didn't bite on purpose. haha
How about one neon tetra? Do they eat the baby.... shrimplet? Somebody give me they neon tetra and I don't intend to.waste setting another tank for it.

Yup, neon tetras will eat shrimplets. As long as their mouth is better than the shrimplets, they will eat it. Boraras brigittae are really tiny fish.
i think my neon tetra ate some babies. there were a few days whereby the fishes like dun want to eat my fish food at all. but if you have plants and rocks around for the shrimp babies to hide, a good number should survive. i have around 20 babies in my tank now despite a presence of around 30 neon tetra

c328 had them the last time I saw. y618 also has them. Now green chapter also has. They are also known as chilli fish. Do read up on them first though. They prefer acidic water with low water turbulance. And you might need to feed them liquifry or micro pellets cause they won't be able to eat bigger foods. 2 ft can have lots. recommended at least 15 to be able to see them swim in a school but you can put 30+ if you are willing to take care of them. They are quite fragile so acclimatize them properly before adding to tank

Well anything less, you won't be able to see the fish haha. and they usually swim mid level and they won't disturb the shrimplets. at least mine don't even when they swim from the ground to the frogbits
Ohh cool. But i guess i'll just keep it a shrimp only tankprovide a stress free environment for them.
