Hey all, its been a long time since I kept a tank, and I've been longing to start again after 8 long years! Been reading up alot and fell in love with the iwagumi concept.

I heard alot of good points on the DSM, and decided to go with it.

I'm still a newbie the aquascaping department, so please guide me! This is my tank so far.

I'm using ADA soil and a twin 18w lightning for my HC. tank size is 60x23x28.

    please advice!

Looking good. But try to drain off excess water. Cover the top with cling flim to prevent the hc from drying up/ keeping the humidity in.

I did wrap a film over it and after 4 days the ones that were not submerged started to rot while the ones submerged were actually doing better and started to bubble. Removed the rotting parts but I'm still thinking if I should fill the tank up more to keep them all submerged.

But it beats the point of dry starting isn't it -.-" am i doing it wrong if the ones behind are actually rotting? I filled the tank a little more and after a day they seem to be healthier. I don't get how people are dry starting so efficiently.

From what I understand, the basic concept behind the DSM is to emulate a greenhouse effect. Using the humidity trapped by using the cling wrap or some other method to cause condensation to form, the plants will take root slowly. It is wise to follow what eviltrain suggested, before your HC starts to rot because of the stagnant water.
