you need to cycle your filter before you put your cories in.
Depends on the Sand you're using, normally, Sudo brand doesn't cloud as much as cheaper brand. You should wash it thoroughly before using this will not avoid cloudy water esp those powdered type of sand, but at least will minimize it. Cloudy water should be cleared in 1-2 days if you have good filtration.
Sand normally produces a fine cloud in the water due to minute particles in the water column for the first few days, until it settles on the bottom. Cycling the tank is of course a must but do not mistake fine sand particles for a bacterial bloom (which may be indicative of other potentially serious problems). You can opt to do multiple water changes or run the water through a diatom filter to clear up the particles. Either way, there is no escaping the cycling part. Irregardless of brand, all types of fine sand will produce the fine cloud.
Please do not put your fish under undue stress, or you are just simply throwing good money and the fishes' lives away.
