Convert your home FL light to PL lights! Which is what I am planning to do. I will replace my Round FL with a 36 Watts PL... but wonder if the lights are powerful to light up the room sufficiently.

I find it quite a waste after replacing tubes that have gone down in intensity but are still working fine...
any creative and ecologically sound ways to deal wit hthem?

Quite an interesting topic.
I really a shame that these old tubes have to be discarded whilst they are still workable. My last batch of PL tubes were offered to people in the forum and luckily there are people who has use of it. If not, I'll probably have to chuck it dow the rubbish chute; a not too environment friendly act.
Now that I've made a change to MH lighting, I'm glad that I'm helping out in the environment (I think) to reduce wastage.
I read on AB that Tom barr do recommend folks to use the PL bulbs until they burn out. There is no apparent after effects when using the bulbs till they burn out as some of the folks there found out. I use my bulbs for more than a year already and my plants are still doing well. Since it works, don't waste it! []

In other words, we do not need to change them yearly as people suggested.
If it is true, then it will be a great news.
