As long there is enough vegetation in the tank, there shouldn't be a problem.
Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, my name is Katherine. I was wondering if anyone had any insight to this situation.
I have a 30gal tank with 5 female bettas and a small pleco in it. They get along fine. I also have a male betta that really doesn't do well in small containers. I am considering introducing him to the big tank with the females, but given their aggressive nature, I'm worried that they will fight.
Has anyone ever had male and female bettas live together peacefully? I'm thinking it might work because there is ample space and this particular male isn't super aggressive. Thanks very much!

You can expect some torn fins if they are kept together. Are you bettas all long fins?
More hiding places and plants might help.
Hello Katherine,
May I suggest to you a partition method for your tank? Refer to the link below:

Basically, the idea is simple. Silicon the spine of a plastic book/file binder to the glass wall of the tank, then use a fine grind plastic needlework mesh to fit in the slits. There's also the option to wedge it in place using 2 large rocks or gravel at the bottom end and plastic suction cups. The pictures in those sites will explain it better. I have a setup in this manner in my room where I keep some fish apart. That way you can keep the male betta in the 30 gallon tank with the females and the pleco without any issues.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Sufficient planted tank and should be more than two short tail bettas (more than one male and one female betta).
Not encourage for long tail bettas.
Last time i kept a pair together in a 2ft tank, they did not fight, and the tank was filled with greenwater. Hence it was hard for them to fight (since they cant even see each other) and they lived peacefully.
I keep 1 male with 3 females in a 2FT heavily planted tank before. They will be occasional chasing but just short chases just to get the other bettas out of their sight. But most of the time, it will be just flaring and one of them just back off.
I think the male will play a big part, there was one time I added another male into the tank, and this piece was super aggressive. Even dash throught all the plant to search for other bettas to attack, I think this male abit crazy. All hells break lose...
You can try introducing your male into the tank and observe, there will bound to be some fight in the beginging but if your male isn't too agressive then peace might return, things will turn out to be ok.
actually it all depend mine 2 female one male
