the tannin leak from the ketapang leaves cause the yellowish colour for your water, as for the cloudiness, im not too sure what happen.

my tank reading are as follows
Chlorine reading : 0
pH : 6.8
gH : > 7° gH
kH : 6 - 10 ° kH
NO2 : 0
NO3 : 10 mg/l
any idea why my water are cloudy. i tried adding ketapang leaf last week to help control the pH lvl suggested by some. Now the water are a little bit yellowish.
No casualties so far since my water top up last sat and have a bunch of new born shrimplets.

This tank currently im housing the shrimps were passed on to me by a friend of mine who was rearing shrimps.
Most of the shrimps inside were his too. Almost a Plug & Play for me.
Currently still cycling my other 2ft tank to prepare to house the shrimps. Cycling for close 2 weeks with fishes inside & yamato shrimps.
All readings are about the same, except for the kH which is lower.
Now just have to wait for shrimpets to get bigger so it'll be easier to move them over to the new tank. Wouldnt want to leave any shrimplets left behind.
hee hee, try this

Thanks alot bro evil for sharing. sure going to need this when i want to rehouse them![]()

are shrimps really that dumb that he cant figure their way out from there?

Maybe its because of the food the guy left it in the bottle to keep the shrimps in there for that few hours.

The symptoms you mentioned Jianyuan is typical of a bacterial bloom. Since it's clearing up I don't think you have anything to worry.

Okay thank you !!

my water became cloudy too. Suspect the filter since the flow from the rainbar was very weak.

Cloudy water has nothing to do with your water flow etc. It is just a bacterial bloom that is taking place. Cleaning out your rainbar would be good, but it would not clear up the cloudy water. The bloom goes away after a few days once your tank has stabilised. This is common in newly set-up tanks.

could bacteria bloom be due to adding BT-9? My tank is a matured tank.. roughly 6 mths old.
