Hi, i'm having weeping and flame moss in my tank with temperature ranging between 27 - 30C, maybe you can look at these too![]()
Just got a pair of driftwood and soaking it now in a spare tank...Looking to tie some moss to the driftwood to beautify the tank setup.
My 2 feet tank parameters are as follows:
1. PH = 6.5
2. Ammonia = 0
3. NO2 = 0
4. NO3 = 20ppm
5. KH = 2
6. GH = 6
7. Temp = 26.2C - 27.9C (no chiller but Mr Aqua Turbo Fan on 24x7)
Doing some research and found that so far, only Java Moss can take up to 30C without much issues. I am looking at Christmas, Spiky or Willow Moss as a alternative. Not sure whether they will survive with my current tank parameters.
Anyone of you shifus here managed to grow the above Moss healthy without chillers?
Thanks for your help in advance.![]()

Flame moss, java moss and christmas moss have no problems in a non chiller tank. They will grow, but very slowly. If you put them into a chiller tank, they will bloom very quickly.
My nick is lizhien. But i'm not a girl. It's Li Zhi En. =) You can call me Cole too.

No problem, Bro.
I've mix moss inside my 2ft tank cooling by fan too.

Thanks all the Bros here for the inputs...
Can go and get some moss later today and try to tied them up to my moss wood.....

my xmas moss grow slower than us fissiden
After much consideration and feedbacks from Bros here, decided to go for Java moss for the following reasons.
1. Understand it is the most hardy among the moss (being a newbie here)
2. No chiller, and Java is the only moss adaptable to 30 deg C. Singapore temperature can go up to 34 deg sometimes.
3. Most of the moss experience slow growth unless put in the 24 or 25 deg C ambiance.
4. It seems (hope I am right) that given my tank conditions, Java Moss will grow the fastest and attached itself to my driftwood.
I am tying loose Java moss to driftwood in a separate tank in a temperature about 27-28 deg. Have to wait (hopefully not too long...1 month or longer) for the moss to be attached to the driftwood before I can put inside the tank....really don't want to wait too long....
Many tanks for your inputs again. If this is okay (hopefully my patience allows me), I will be keen to move on to other moss...especially Spilky and Christmas Moss...

Hi, just to share my experience. Not sure if other bros here exp the same.
Without fans and lights of 15w on for 8 hrs a day, my java mosses turned abit brownish.
I think it's too warm so the growth is not so nice
After adding fan and changed to led light, the plants looked better. Even my mini pelia is better.
So if using light tubes, I think can shorten the hours to less than 8, or on and off on intervals, but troublesome.
