Last seen at Polyart about 2-3 weeks back. There were definitely males in that batch. I did not see any at C328 earlier though, did not have time to browse Polyart sadly.

Hi Lucas, have 5 rainbowfish, 1 male and 4 (not too sure but was told males too), wanted to let them find a better home.

Letting go at 2 dollars for all. Interested?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1309648333.979687.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1309648369.196274.jpg

Sorry for the lousy pictures, the rainbows tend to swim away once I close in

    Cheers

I went polyart and GreenChapter today, sadly no pseudomugil gertrudae sighted.

They seem pretty scarce at the moment. I don't even see any Iriatherina werneri of late.

I guess all these species all come in together in the same shipment, hence we dont see any of them now. I came to this conjecture because i also spotted pseudomugil furcatus 2-3 weeks ago, about the same time you spotted pseudomugil gertrudae.

That's too bad I guess. These Pseudomugil are attractive. Ronnie aka Ronwill used to breed gertrudae, and his males were spectacular.

I also hope to breed them, assuming i can find the male. At first i wanted to breed the madagascan rainbow fish, bedotia geayi, but sadly my two pairs died in a recent ich attack

Oh yes, the P. gertrudae is small but it's subtle beauty is often over-shadowed by other more colorful fishes. Quite coincidental that this bugger is also on my 'to buy' list. Alas, if none is in sight, I don't mind Pseudomugil signifer either.

    Re: Rainbowfish--Pseudomugil Gertrudae

I realised among the Papua New Guinean ranbowfishes, pseudomugil furcatus are the most common.

By the way, turns out that i may have two males and two females , as seen from the spotting on the fins and the flaring from the two supposed males. Most likely i will get down to breeding them in novemeber after my exams when i have more time to spare. All the same, please still keep this thread open as i am still interested in getting more.

Any tips for breeding? Also, since the new-born fry are too small to eat baby brine shrimp or daphnia, i guess i will have to culture infusoria?

Lucas, all I have done before is documented in "Killie companions - Breeding the Pseudomugil gertrudae." Any tips you find should still be relevant. Good luck and keep us posted.

Edit: Good grief!! Was it me being dense or what?? I just realized that the thread will be 8 years old in September!! Danged... time really fly and I feel old suddenly...

Most likely would not be updating you guys anytime soon since i will start the attempt only in november

For infusoria, can i ask how do you check whether the culture is successful? I tried making infusoria cultures before and sometimes it stinks and is cloudy, sometimes it is clear and has no smell, which is a good culture?

I bought 10 from them at a dollar each last week too, all of them are doing well now.
