    Hello

My tank seems to turn brown easily... I don't know what the brown stuff is... it growns on the walls as well as on my sand, especially near where the water is pumped out from the filter.

Also, I saw to my horror that there are tons of white tiny tadpole-like creatures swimming in my FILTER compartment... [:0] anyone knows what they are? I read somewhere that if they are in the water with the fish, they are harmless and the fish eats them. But if they appear in my filter compartment.. are they the same stuff people are talking about?

Lastly, how do I siphon out the waste particles in the filter compartment without draining out all the water... can those siphoning equipment suck out all the stuff?

Chances are, this is due to insufficient lights or new tank

    Dear kelstorm...

What is sump? Came across it several times but there's no definition of it where I was finding.

I'm using those compartment-based filtering system. Basically water flows from left most compartment and get filtered before moving to the right compartment. There are four compartments to filter the water and it is sepearated from the main water by a wall... no I do not use overflow method.

I realise that the tadpole white creatures will thrive at the filter when it is off. But when it is on, they prolly got sucked into the main water to be eaten by the fish []

I've cleaned the lighting and the sand to rid off the brown stuff. Anyway, the water still seems quite cloudy - the wall also. Any idea how to remove the cloudiness?
