4FT all shrimps... sure will be a very impressive sight to behold. Black with ample lighting will be nice.
Fish keeping is not a good hobby unless you received support from your family to keep them.

If shrimps then black background willl be nice as you would have some green moss and probably red shrimps.

For discus, go for white background as discus tends to turn darker shades and try fade into the background color.

Me also deciding btw black and dark blue
    Having fire red
Will the shrimp display deeper color if used black oyama? assuming shrimps will display dark tone in darker substrate.

    Re: oyama paper?

Usually black will bring out all the colour in the tank with good lighting because there is colour contrast and it will not reflect the aquarium light...

    Re: oyama paper?

Out of topic on Oyama color...
Are you planing to have combine / various shrimp in your 4ft tank?
If yes, I would like to suggest you DON'T because the new born shrimp / breed will not be the pure and mixed.
When it does, the color is not as per what you expecting from their parent.

    Re: oyama paper?

when i had the 4ft tank for shrimps... they are purely fire red shrimps with CRS/BDS... so wont cross breed.. thanks for pointing it out anyway... btw i used to have some black sakuras... colour quite fantastic..
