i think having a MH that near to the surface will not only create a temperature problem, but also imagine water splashing on it, either the water sizzle and dry up or the glass might crack
Hi,
saw the Weipro 4ft MH at Gan's. It's 2x150W, so I think the wattage should be sufficient. It's the hangover type, like the PL lights that Nature has. Not the pendant type that's hung from the ceiling.
My chief concern is the temperature. It seems like the Weipro MH is only a few inches about the water surface. Has anybody has experience with using the Weipro MH for planted tanks? I'm worried about the temp and wondering if using fans alone is ok. Don't intend to invest in chiller.
Appreciate your advice.
Cheers

if you are interested in using the mh light, you can try to design some stand to increase the standoff distance to the water surface. since mh light penetration is good, there should not be any problem in raising the lights by 1' or more.

have you tried that idea out before? shouldn't re-invent the wheel, especially if someone else has tried that out before...![]()

how about use 3-4cm thick arylic to raise the lights? I know david using those for his old PL light system
