I have Marsilea in center and Hair grass on both sides for foreground, the combination was not bad.
Could you show us a close shot of the Marsilea.Thank

As requested.
Marsilea crenata
How about tryin "siao(3) yi(4) jing(1) cao(3)", latin name is Cinerum something, can't remember! Apologies!
Actually, I find hottonia inflata to be very attractive. Ever consider trying out that plant??? However, being a mid ground plant, they may be a bit too high for the front though...
Perhaps you want to "endure" till Aquarama to see if there's any "special" plant to try out! Just my 2 cents worth!
Cheers!
Btw, what is that plant on the LHS near the foreground, beside the M Crenata? Is it the special plant from Thailand?
Cheers!
I'll say Crypto! They do have a stunning effect after awhile when they spread nicely. You might want to consider. Easier to maintain ( in my case ) .
Cheers!

Actually it's by accident. Wanted to remove some of the Marsilea by uprooting abit ended up the whole piece came off.
I've decided to replace the Marsilea with Crypt. parva. Will be clearing the Marsilea tentatively tommorrow. Anyone interested... pm me.

Yup, it's from Thailand. Not very common here.
The lawn effect of crypto parva is really a sight to behold. I've not seen any successful planted tank foreground covered with crypto parva nicely. ( I don't think i'm right so please tell me where can i view it online many thanks).
It's slow growing capabilities allows aglae to infest on them easier than any other plant.
It'll be very wonderful to see a 4ft tank full of Parva! Good insight!
The only tank i've seen locally is Benny.
I believe in 8-12mths time those parvas' will cover the foreground entirely provided it's planted densely from the start!
Sherwin so when are you getting your parva?
PS: Send me a PM if u're purchasing it.
Cheers!

I've already gotten 20 pots and they are in the tank now waiting to be planted. Please don't ask me where and how much I got it for cos I promised the seller that I won't disclosed the source or the price. Sorry for the secrecy.
You covering for a 1x1ft? IMO i propose 120 pots at lease to cover. i use 25pots for a 1x1ft area . If you don't grow it densely in the beginning it's pretty difficult to get the lawn effect after awhile.
Cheers!

Hi Sherwin,
Refering to 20/10 pics,
Are all these plant newly planted? Seem like they are not bushy enough, kind of a bit bare 'visually'...can see a large pacth of the background.
Of course I am no expert, can only feedback base on how it appear to me...just my personal view....and not experience enough to counter propose...
May I ask a few question:
1. The Japonica (I may ID wrongly) on the RHS...why yours is so 'dwarft', are they newly grown?...Nomally Japonica can grow quite tall and bushy.
2. The plant on the LHS-foreground....next to some crypto and NEXT to Marsilea...under the red lotus....it look like Tonina without the stem....It doesnt look like Eriocaulon cinereum (Cinereum is those that among the M.crenata)...May I know what plant is that?
3. Will the M.Crenata stand up like Glosso under low light? and Does it spread fast? May I have 2 pots worth of M.crenata?
Sorry for so many questions....

1. Blyxa japonica grows just about the size you see in my tank. I don't think there is a dwarf version as far as I know.----------------

2. Yes, it's Tonina sp. Newly planted.
3. Marsilea would not grow standing up as glosso does even with low light. The shaded Marsilea tends to grow bigger and taller leaves. You can have some if you want but it has to be self collection at Bukit Panjang.
Tank Update 5th Nov 2003
Replaced the messy Marsilea with Crypt. parva. Have to patiently wait for them to slowly carpet themselves.
All comments welcome.
