hi, I have a discus with one eye popped out very severely, almost a 1cm out. Have been treating it with various medicine - melafix, ocean free internal baterica, salt etc. Temp raise to 32C. Condition still persist. Other that condition, discus is still feeding and swimming well, looking healthy. Any suggestions on what other medicine may be worth a try?

how long you treat this fish?

continue treatment with partial WC every 5 days salt + high temp(30 degrees)for 2 weeks should do the job.

    Re: Popping eye

I have been treating it for close to a month. Not much improvement. In fact I do 100% water change every 2-3 days, adding salt at times with medication. Temp has been maintained at 30-32C.

Don't change water for 5 days, then change partially every alternate days...your routine is wrong.

U have pics to show? so that I can help.

    Re: Popping eye

From what I see, it is likely to be a tumour in the eye. Treatment of popeye with tetracyline and maracyn may help, but no guarantees on the survival of the fish. It is probably prudent to house this affected fish in a separate hospital tank. Do you see any fluid build up in the eye socket or the blood vessels clearly seen through the skin membrane? If yes then it could be other infections. Other possibilities can be a gas bubble trapped underneath the eye.

    Re: Popping eye

In the 1st place, did the fish injured itself in the eyes? looks like injury causes the eye to pop.

I do not dare to recommend any medicine since it is still eating well and introduce medicine might kill the fish.

What salt you are using for treatment?

I am using red sea marine salt(bought from C32 to treat my discus, u can try and it is safe if u follow the recommended dosage.
