Well, I hope and pray. And then I go to the tank and peek to realise the male has swollowed the eggs. All 3 males, 4 times each. Haha...Seriously no luck with channoides.
Hey guys,
My first set of fries are doing well...almost a month old now and getting bigger. Still letting the first male rest before pairing him up again.
The other two males are now brooding...mouths full. I was wondering:
1. do you bother to feed them during this period?
2. do you do water changes?
3. when do you remove the female? (last time I removed her around day 3-4. But it was obvious she wanted out)
4. anything else I need to think about?
What to do with all these fries? *sigh*
Well, I hope and pray. And then I go to the tank and peek to realise the male has swollowed the eggs. All 3 males, 4 times each. Haha...Seriously no luck with channoides.
Cheers,

You know, I used to have that problem a lot. Surprisingly, the first one held them for two weeks and now I have babies. Once I see they are brooding, I tend to leave them alone for a few days before checking...I notice that whenever I check too much, they swallow. Let's see this time, yah?
I would do the regular water change but change feeding to once every two days.
It also depends on the male fish.
My method is to remove the male on day 10 (if you know your male well and he won't swallow) into another smaller tank to release the fries.

Do they still eat when they are brooding? I have already removed the female from the tank as she was just bugging the heck out of him.
Of the three, only one is still brooding. The older male spit the undeveloped babies out after about 4-5 days. The other male...thought they had done the deed but can't be seeing that they are still rolling around and she doesn't look like she's got eggs yet. Jumped the gun on them.
