    Wow new project
The left slope sure very high, good that you put enough stone on it.

Zack, I can almost imagine the final scape but without splinting the lava rocks, that slope will slowly level out. Good luck with the set up and keep us posted.

How are you? I am the one that bought your Lily Pipe, remember me?

    Sharing my opinion.

Nice concept on your new layout. Just asking, did you just push up the slope and place your rock on them or is the rock inserted into the substrate.
If the rock is only place on the substrate itself , the slope will level up very quickly. Even if the rock is inserted, it will only slow down down the leveling up process.
You will need rocks under the substrate to hold up the slope. The uncle at Y618 shared with me that he manage to maintain a very high slope in his house tank, he
is the one who share with me the rock under the slope concept. Maybe you can ask him to share his experience when you are there next time.

Either way I thing should be nice. I think HC grip the soil better though. or you can mix both HC and UG.

    Re: NEW project -

Hahaha, everyone's worried bout your high slope bro. Very nicely done but yea, it'll start tumbling down very soon.
I would not want to put any yamato shrimps or smaller shrimps that breeds quickly (eg, cherries) either if I were you, as I've tried and proven that these guys will speed up erosion by 100X. You will see the yamato digging on the top and nonchalantly tossing soil down the slopes.

I had a large amount of lava chip buried in my scape when I did the high slope and it held the large rocks on top very well and is still very sturdy now. Alas, the surface soil all got stripped away and the lava chips starts getting exposed after sometime. High slope is a pain to maintain.

Lastly, don't expect HC or glosso's roots to help you anchor the soil alone. They're too shallow. My shrimps actually did "mining" works and created "tunnels" under the HC beds...maybe if there had been no shrimps, and I had done a better job planting...

Lava rock inside the slope as core?

Haha, thanks all for the advice.
1st of all, I put lava rocks at the straight bottom and slowly pour the soil to fill the gaps, then lava rocks again, like this I slowly form the slope.

2nd, I will nv put yamatos as they are too vigorious. (actually nv put yamatos with hcs) last scape I had a hard time clearing hc leaves every morning. Haha.

I'll only add shrimps when hc had fully carpet my lava rocks section.
(i have chose hc by the way )

I would only add my prl culls in future for shrimps, I think even fire red too aggressive. Hahahhaa

Hi shadow, when you mix 2 foreground plants would that give you a headache? Because I have tried hc and glosso and it gave me he'll of trouble, had to trim everyday to prevent glosso's new shoot from covering the hc. Hahaha. I'm too lazy to do that.

Heehee, y618 uncle grew weeping in his 6 footer at home, all he need to do is form the squarish rocks row by row to create the slope, eventually his weeping on the rows of rocks will cover the rocks in front to form a very nice scape. Heehee, that's quite easy to be done, bit not so natural in my opinion.

Note that it's not whether its submerge form or emerged form leave sizes, as fiends out here may tell me that the leaves will be bigger when it's sold in it's emerged form. Nope, the leaves are of different sizes, thus I believe that it's 2 different kinds.
