Nice Setup.
Time to hide the equipments to improve further.
Lily Pipes would do good now.
Hi all,
Am taking this thread for the online journal of a new setup, Convergence.
After viewing through numerous setups by hobbyist (too many to name), had finalize in trying to create one with a sand path. Scaping began in 5 June 2011, but preparation (soaking of wood) was about 1 month before.
had been gathering materials (tank, wood, stand, filter etc for a few months) and finally got the project going. A number of stuffs were gathered/ bought from fellow hobbyist in the forum.
all comments and feedback are greatly welcome.
tank size : 60 x 30 x 45cm
lighting : 24wx4 (on for 8 hours per day)
filteration : Ehiem 2222
Co2 : 1 bbps
Aeration : clipon - Fan
flora :
java ferns
narrow java ferns
windelov ferns
staurogyne sp
elatine triandra
bylxa japonica
Christmas moss
Flame moss
Us fissidens
riccia
pelia
mini nanas
fanua :
8x rummynose
5x celestial peral danios
3 x SAE
4x Otto
4x yamato
3x corydora pygmy
Malayan shrimps
Nerite snails
Soaking of wood (was soak for about 1 month)
Hardscaping – after several hours
Soaking again – media packs were used to weigh down wood
Soil and Sand – finally acquire all the substrate
Laying out of substrate bottom (5 june 2011)
- had place lava chips beneath the soil to increase the height for both slopes
- major challenge was in the removal of cardboard separator as soil starts to round down towards the path.
Planting and filling (6 June 2011)
- added ferns and fissidens, some plants were transferred from nano tank (japonica, staurogyne, nanas)
- water was turning brownish, figure might be due to the sand (forgotten to prewash and also the leaching of the wood)
- soil had started to roll down onto the sand path but cant seem to make them “go-away”, in the end, just let them be.

I like the hardscape. Good job there!
No fish for now? Or do I see some Ember Tetras at the back?
thanks all for your comments!
@Aquanoob, am sure you can had better tanks! ")
@Shadow,
wondering if you might have any recommendation how best clean the sand, am really trying to get the soil out of the sand area but cant find the way to keep the soil from rolling down...
am currently trying to scope out the lapis (regret adding) every water change
@Squee, currently have massive cleaning crew haha, and some rummynose and celestial pearl danio
thanks for viewing!
you can add rocks to separate between soil and sand but from the photo look like you already done so. The next step is to wait until all plant grow and cover the soil. In the mean time you can clean the sand by siphon it using small hose.
Nice and Beautiful Scape. Great job.

nice set-up...![]()
nice neat set up...
Nicely done with crystal clear water, Scape will look nicer if the equipments are hidden. And why not Diy another light stand like the one you did in your previous scape? Hope to see more of your scapes
Cheers!
Hi all, thanks for the comments below is a update, just siphon out the lapis sand, lights is hanging from a stand
Still have not hide the pipe though...
Comments welcome

Sorry for the blur images
Your last picture is great when all the plants are mature.
Great job. I wonder why did you changed the soil again? Because of maintainence?
Aquascaper?
thanks! initially started using sand but the substrate by the side keeps rolling down to the sand bed ( currently still happening).
so i thought by having a small layer of lapis sand on the top will reduce impact of the "black soil on light brown sand" contrast.
but after a while, still prefer the light brown sand, so now have to do my part to keep the sand clean from the soil and the left over lapis ")
Very nice 2 feet. want to try 2 by 1.5ft???
@ Fireball, thanks for your comments, the ferns are actually tied to a small separate piece of wood
@david, want to try but no space "(
very nice...btw, where u buy such a nice WOOD? i tried few LSC...most of them are FLAT..sigh...
you can get it from C328, NA
