It was designed with such an intention that seed shrimp can only be allowed to enter from the right based on my trap assembly. The first 2 nettings on the right are of same size and slightly smaller in size as compared to the seed shrimp. Seed shrimps will find its way to the trap where food is placed. If you observe carefully enough, there is a fishing line attached to the right for retrieving the whole trap assembly. The left netting is much smaller as compared to the other two. So, when the trap is retrieved, it will be tilted to upright position. The fine netting will prevent the seed shrimp from escaping the trap. Placement of trap is also important. The water current must flow from left to right so that the seed shrimps will then enter from the right instead of left due to the yummy food taste. To make the catching more effective, the right opening should be placed slightly below the soil. This will aid the seed shrimps to get into the trap.
But seed shrimps comes in many sizes...there're very small one...
I guess your aim is to keep catching all the adults and eventually the population will get wiped out? haha

Probably for the same reason that I am also making a request for. To feed my fishes... it my case, Cherry Barbs.
They wipe out my last population. Need to re-seed.

You are right. It is difficult to catch the younger ones. By going a few rounds of catching, their population will eventually be gone.
Previously, I manually have to siphone them which took me quite a bit of time. With this new catching device, I can leave them overnight and harvest them on the next day. The nettings will prevent most shrimps from going into the trap, maybe not for shrimplets. However, the shrimplets can be recovered by removing them separately in a small container.
This trap is not difficult to be built. By looking at the full picture, you should be able to build them. You may need a pipe cutting tool to cut the 1" in diameter clear pipe. Remember to get a loosely fitted pipe connector, so that the netting can sandwich between pipe connector and the clear pipe.
i can try to DIY this, may i know where can i get such fine netting?
Those fine netting may be able to get it from those textile shop. I salvaged from my daughter's dress as I accidentally melted it due to iron's temperature.
