Hi all, after one year plus in this forum, finally pluck up enough courage to post my novice 2ft tank setup. Previously I was on a 1ft plus tank. Set up this 2ft tank after gotten approval from my wife to setup a bigger tank. Though it is only a 2ft by 1ft by 1ft, I am contented (at this moment only). Hahaha....
My tank setup
Tankwithcabinet-1.jpg

Substrate : ADA Amazonia II as base and Benibachi Black Soil as top layer
Lighting: Normal Hopar 2ft T5HO two tubes light
Other equipment : Pinpoint PH Meter, normal digital thermometer, Hailea 2 way air pump and 2x Eheim adjustable diffuser.

US fissidens are tied to bowood myself, please forgive me for my lousy job as I really don't have the talent and plus this is my first time doing it. Took me quite some time to get this scrappy job done.
To be continued.....

Now is some DIY stuff I did for my set up. You may find some stuff familiar as the ideas are mainly from forum also.
Partition
Tank2ftpartition.jpg
This acrylic partition is not totally DIY. The two pieces of acrylic sheets were done at Dama. Cost me a bomb just because the holes are machine cut but the finishing are really nice.
Inlet pipe
TankInlet.jpg TankInletandOutlet.jpg
Using those elbow joints and T joint with some hose and got this inlet pipe done. For taking in water from both sides as worried if only one side has inlet, the other without will be quite dirty. This is the initial set up, rain bar has since been replaced by Lily inlet pipes.
To be continued....

Nice and unique bogwood you have got. Did a great job in your shrimps setup and DIY tough is your first time doing, Simple and Nice.
When a habit begins to cost money, it's called a hobby.
Finally my last two DIY.....
Tank Cover
TankCover.jpg TankDIYCover.jpg
Seen a lot of you guys' tank setup without any tank cover, was wondering aren't you guys get irritated of the the amount of dust? Maybe for my case, the amount of dust in my room is alot, I feel that I do need one. After some measurements taken and the border being cut up, wire mesh is secured to the board using those metal eyelets. Will use cloth tape to tape the whole border to cover the ugly eyelets and prevent from being cut by the wire mesh's edges.
Dripping Mug
Tankdrip2.jpg Tankdrip.jpg
Did this simple DIY using a 1Litre measuring mug and a open/close air valve for my water change sessions. Only downside is I have to top up a few times as this mug can only hold 1Litre of water. Unless I can find an even bigger mug. That is also provided my wife won't complain about my equipment lying around again.
That's it for my first tank set up posted in forum. Hope you guys enjoy it.![]()
Great job!! Simple but a lots of 'heart work'
Love your creativity, and sharing. Now that you are poison, keep the updates and pics coming.Keep it up!
Thanks bro Chris168. I did enjoyed the DIY portion and setting up the tank. Wife bought this tank for me since March' 11. It's only until end June then I finally got some idea and start setting up my tank. Slowly gather my equipment and pestering some of the bros here for advice. People like Bro Eviltrain and Bro Ecalyte, really thanks for the advice and pointers you guys have given me.
Lots of hard work put into it. Cheers! Will be awaiting to see shrimps in your tank.!
Thanks bro Jianyuan. Hope you can find your stuff.
How much does it cost you with the setup?
I alway see people putting ceremic rings around the shrimp tanks. Whats the use of the ceremic rings in the shrimp tank.
It's a nice setup....
Care to share the cost of the unique partition???
Nice & clean.
I have interest in the tank cover, cardboard will lose form if wet. How you avoided that ?
