It looks like you're over injecting or the rate co2 dissolving is to low. Nevertheless, confirm whats your CO2 level by the pH/kH relationship to confirm.
Hi all,
When I turn on my CO2 for a long time, there will be a time where the CO2 fills up almost a third of the reactor (3 Balls). The bottom ball will stop spinning and there will be tiny CO2 bubbles coming out of the outlet. Does this mean that I am injecting too much CO2? Presently, I am putting 2 bubbles per second.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Erwin

What is the flowrate of your filter? At 2 bubbles per sec, the reactor shouldn't fill up unless your flowrate is too slow (<300L/hr).

I am using a EHEIM 2224. I think the flow rate is about 700l/hr?
Actually, i also had the same problem.
The CO2 dissolve rate is too slow.
I am using Atman 3335. Think is 400-600l/h.
Still trying to solve this problem.
But as long as your KH/PH/CO2 relationship is ok.
Then should not be of any problem.
Thks
I'm getting the same problem also........me using a 2213 on a 2ft planted tank.----------------

My friend just to me a way to help resolve this;
1) get a metal chk valve
2) cut the tube about 5 or 6 cm above the water surface the put in the metal chk valve.......
DOne
so next time too much c02 in the reactor just pull out the chk valve, let the c02 out the reactor then reconnect back....easier than everytime have to put ur hands in the tank.
I used to have this problem with my 700L/hr pump. I changed to 2000L/hr, fantastic.
I am using my reactor in a sump tank so I can change my pump rate anytime.
ok.. I do face the same problem.. so I did something stupid to the reactor, instead of leting the C02 bubble come in from the top thur the air-stone, I inverted the reactor, now the bio ball is ontop and the C02 come in thur the bottom, this way I notice that the ball will continous to spin since the water inlet is there n keep pushing the bio bal, hence the C02 of undissolve level never reach even 1/4 level..
so I guess from the above methode, most C02 will b dissolved
For me I took out 2 of the bioballs so the remaining one is kept spinning.----------------

There's another theory that the 3 bioballs must be there. Even if they stop spinning, they still help to dissolve the CO2 because of greater surface area presented.
How about lowering you CO2 injection rate if your problem persists?
BTW - I used 1 to 2 bps for 24 hours in my planted tanks.
