How big is your terrapin and how you need assistance in babysitting it?
My pet is 2 years old and lives in a 3ft aquarium with 10-20 cm water. He has a driftwood to climb and bask. He is fed with Nutrafin 4-5 times a day.
I am planning to visit my parents in August and will be away for around 15 days. Was wondering if anyone could help me by taking care of this guy when I am away.
Alternatively I ma trying to get various documentation and licence to pass through the Indian customs, but the chances are quite bleak as read in forums that its quite difficult to get through the customs and I might landup loosing my pet.
Any help with this regards is much appreciated.

More details please?
I just got 2 terrapins (someone didn't want them ) about 3 or 4 days back. So, I am learning the ropes along the way... but if it not too much trouble, I will try to help (provided the wife doesn't complain :P).
hi nyxx88
This terrapins are relatively easy to take care. Look at this http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-care-for-terrapins
This will help you ..
Many thanks Eddy!!
Incidentally, I just ordered a "160W Solar Glo" lamp & a porcelain clamp holder.
Hi nyxx88
Oops, these Terrapins really don't need this kind of lamp at all. Moreover, this high wattage lamp is actually suitable for reptiles like desert lizards, and certain snakes may need a lot of heat and sun. I do really regret that I bought this lamp for my 4ft tall vivarium tank to house my 12 White Tree Frogs due to fast drying up their moisture skin and will causes white/green fungus to grow on its skin in no time. I buried my 4 - 5 White Tree Frogs due to that.
If you need a lamp over this, get yourself, a simple LED lamp from any IFS, and it's very highly recommended for all kinds of critters.
hope this will help you..
No kidding Eddy?? :O
Just paid for those . Then, how would terrapins in an indoor SG home get their UVB? And how much do they typically need?
Looks like I will have to keep the "Solar Glo" for something else (now to convince the wife to let me keep some nice snakes/iguanas :P). I also bought a "Repti Glo 5.0" as well. Guess this will be better?
p/s - Saw your DIY journal -- AMAZING!!
Hi nyxx88,
Thanks for the encouraging..
Don't be too worry about this, Singapore's climate is still excellent even if your terrapin keeps indoor.
So sorry, but you can jolly let go in any forum's market, please be aware that those reptiles are illegal to keep them as a pet by the unkind AVA!

I guessed as much... hence the ":P" at the end of it. Don't even talk about AVA... don't think can get past the WIFE in the first place. Hahahahaha!!
Think I will just keep the "Solar Glo" first -- use it for 1 to 2 hours on rainy days, to make it worth my $$ :P.
Hi nyxx88,
I would really appreciate if you could help me in taking care for 2 weeks. The reason I need to go to my country is to celebrate my Grandmother's 91st birthday (which i do not want to miss). I will have to come back as I am employed in a reputed company. Please do not think that I am trying to give away my pet. Its just that I need a caretaker till i am back.
Any help from you or any of the forum members is appreciated. If there are any paid services, I am willing to pay for the duration as well.
cheers

Hi Baliga
How big is your turtle ? It's seems that you been feeding your turtle 4x a day, actually once a day will good enough.
Hi eddy,
My terrapin is around 4.5cms. I used to feed him twice a day and the groowth was moderate. Once I started feeding him frequently with there was a noticeable growth. The quantity of feed is 5-6pellets
Cheers

Hi, you got a portable container for it? Shouldn't be too hard to look after it for you.

okay baliga
I think i can take care for you with a fee of 1 large tiger beer with a whole Johnson roasted duck to fang! Is this too much for you?
Eddy, Tsk Tsk tsk

If this was facebook, I would click on the big "LIKE" button for Eddy's post!!!
Baliga: I would definitely trust Eddy with my reptiles (not sure about my beer though :P). He is super experienced with the reptiles (I'm sure with beer too... ). Wackytpt might do it cheaper than Eddy ... hahahaha!! I think your pet will be better off with these 2 guys than me -- as you can see, I am still learning (less than 1 week owning 2 RESes).
Hi Eddy,
1 large tiger beer with a whole Johnson roasted duck should not be a problem at all. I dont think that's asking too much.
I do not have a portable container and the pet resides in a 2ft Aquarium.
BTW, I would be leaving on 18th Night and returning by Sept 10th or 11th
Cheers
