    Resealing 20ish Gallon Aquarium

Hey everyone, I've decided to take the ambitious route and reseal my aquarium rather than buy another second hand one off of craigslist or something (student budget and all). The vertical side seals are peeling and I sense a leak coming on soon.. probably right when I have a bunch of papers and midterms due.

I'm wondering if it would be alright to reseal just the vertical joints between the panes instead of doing those as well as the seals that run horizontally along the bottom of the tank as well.

Would doing just the vertical seals doom me to leaks where the old and new silicone meet? Or conversely, would redoing all the silicone run too high a risk of misaligning the glass panes?
    Opinions?? Ideas??
    Thanks!

You should remove all the interior silicone prior to resealing. This will not affect the structure of the tank. If the tank was well built it will not leak even without the interior seal. remove all the silicone with a razor blade (you will need several), clean with alcohol or acetone and apply new silicone.
