Most folks try to get their plants to grow low while you are trying to keep it growing straight up...[:] My bet is it is getting loads of light and that has prompted the plants to creep along the floor. One method is to reduce direct light on it.

I bought this plant and the guy at the shop told me it's called xiao hong mei. I don't have the scientific name. Anyway, after I planted the plant, it starts growing side shoots. It's making the plant grow messy. Instead of growing upwards, the plants are now growing left right and everywhere else but straight up. How do I solve this?? I read somewhere once that a certain plant hormone would help reduce side shoots and make plant grow straighter and healthier. If there is such a thing, can anyone please recommend me.

Well, athey seem to be bushing up. Would they maybe start growing straight after bushing?? Thanks!
Different plants may bahave differently. If you can get the scientific name of the plant, it will surely help us to give you better advice.

I find moving the plants to a location in the tank where they can grow naturally helps...
