hi all, pls adivce me what should i do.

i have a 4ft 2tier tank set, top tier tank house my main fish. bottom tier is my discus. Usually when i do water change i will suck water from bottom tier then use top tier tank water to fill it up. Right now dont wish to keep so many fish anymore decided to change remove all livestock in bottom tier.

Should i remove all water from bottom tier and fill up with new tap water and use for aging tank? or should i use the remaining tank water from bottom tier as a aging tank? and also bottom tier is an IOUS setup , Do i need to remove all my medias in the IOUS comparment? or better still leave it there will pump running?

Perivously bottom tier is holding 10 discus of 50cents coin in 4ft bioload low enough to reuse the tank water as aging tank?

    Re: Ageing tank water

Personally, i would not use water that fish thrive in as aging tank for water. With discus at size of 50 cents, they are growing very quickly and probably eating alot resulting in much waste. Hence i would not suggest you use their water for WC

Also, since now that you have decom your become tank, it dont think it make sense to let the filtration run and incur more cost. ( Unless you really like to see flowing water at home )

I would suggest you decom your bottom tank and keep it dry. Use it for keeping stuff or remove it to make your place neater.
Using it to age water for your above tank would only be useful if you have a pump to pump the water from the bottom tank to the top. Else it is really hardwork for you to get water from the bottom tank to the top. Or if possible at all, convert it to become a sump tank and you would have very good filtration system for tank above.
