Pygmy so far still ok with my shrimplets but i am not 100% sure because i didnt really count the number of shrimplets. From my experience watching them, havent seen them attack the shrimplets so should be quite safe. Anyway how do you want them to clean your gravel? and i dont think they clear seed shrimp.

haha! thanks thanks! hope so man..

Hi all,
Recently i got high death rates in my tank, 2-3 shrimps die every alternate day and it is really depressing. My latest update for water parameter is Gh 5 PH 6.0 when co2 if on and PH 6.5 when its off, temperature is set at 25. Any experts can help me out? i am really desperate for help now.
A 0.5 pH swing on a daily basis will eventually kill the shrimps.. Strong ones will survive but weaker and pregnant ones will eventually die. The last time I kept getting deaths was also due to the water difference in pH between tap water and tank. These days my tap is 7.5 pH. If yours is the same.. Regardless of dechloramination, the pH difference is deadly.
As a planted guy myself it was really difficult for me not to have plants and co2. I never understood why co2 could be so detrimental to the shrimps. So I ignored all advice and found out the hard way. I'm not saying the co2 is the problem but it should be one of the factors you look into.
Now you know why I last time used to keep crs in planted tank just like you, with jhg and co2 on 24/7. I stopped the co2 when I saw first death.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is rather difficult to maintain both a nice planted tank and a nice population of breeding crs

Hi, thank you for dropping by, I also suspected it might be due to a ph swing. Should i just turn on my co2 24/7 or set it at intervals like every 6hours on/off? or do I really have to cut co2? I have now turn down my co2 quite alot. Previously the swing Was bigger 5.8-6.5!

Thanks for the input, so did the death rates become lesser? Strange thing is I'm still getting shrimplets and the shrimps are feeding well. I'm only afraid if I cut my co2 now completely algae will sure visit my tank main reason is I have high lights - 96w! but the death rate is really depressing!! I was thinking if it's my Bb ? Also I do not see much molting for sure
If I'm not wrong you will realize that they are not so active compared to earlier? I do not know about you, for me I demolished the scape in the end..

Hey Bro, previously I had CO2 on for 24/7 and there will still be a PH swing because at night when the plants are not taking in the CO2, carbonic acid will be formed and cause a drop in PH, I have since kept it on during the day at a low bps which cause a slight drop (0.1-0.2) as compared to the one at night. I hope this will do the shrimps good!![]()

I am still having so many deaths till now and I have off my co2 to maintain the ph at a level. But I release that my ph now is 6.9, I'm wondering If the high ph is killing my shrimps? Anyone care to help? Or Isist something that is leaking in my tank that is causing my shrimPs to die. the only thing I add in rcently is a ph phrobe that is made of plastic. And anyone knows if nutrafin anti chlorine has content that might be harmful to shrimps? Many thanks! Really need more advice before my entire population gets wipe out!
I'm drooling...
Healthy breeding = Mature Tank
By the way...do you dose Co2???

I only use CO2 when my light is on for plants
