    No offence Tropica.

Today at the close of the Aquarama, I passed by Tropica and hoped to get the bigger version of TMG, but left with the usual 500ml. When asked about the price, the Tropica was asking for wah lao $60. The one I bought from LFS was very much cheaper about a month ago. I think this exhibition price is far from reasonable !

Any bro has any comment on this ?

    not sure correct or not,

but I think many companies at the exhibition are the main manufacturer or so, They only sell to distributor in bulk or large qty. so when come to selling just 1 or 2 items, normally they would not know the SRP or RRP. Therefore they just simply gave a eg 40%-60% markup of their price.

Knowledge from previous exp enounter while talking to some mfg here. They will give you a very good price unless u buy in big qty.

IMO it's really up to the manufacturer to name their price, to get it or not is a choice we can make.

What I learnt from this is to appreciate AQ for bringing in the product. Although for myself I have not try the product, I believe it must be really good for people to recomend it. Credits due when credits due.

3 CHEERS FOR AQ!... and I hope they can continue to do a good job and keep the price affordable for the hobbist locally[]

this time around, the ang mo's at tropica quite 'chao kwan' one....on sat when they start selling the plants..etc, they were initially selling the pellia in a small plastic bag $10 and those tied to a rock for $15. But after a while..they run out of loose notes for change...and guess what they did... they just increase the price of those tied to a rock from $15 to $20, so that they dun need to give change. Guess they dun care...since no one locally wants to distribute their plants...too ex with airfreight..etc when compared to those available locally.

Prices for TMG locally is the same as before, so remember not to pay $60 for a 500ml[]

if I didn't remember wrongly, it should be
    250ml = $24, 500ml = $38 before discount

I was there when they were setting up the counter for sales. The "pelia" named as Monosolenium tenerum was sold at S$20 from the beginning. I don't think that was the case as you mentioned.

I even bought a few plants from them before they set up the counter. They refered to their price list for the selling price.

I think Benny took a pic of their selling price.

I am not too sure about the selling price of TMG though.

Tropica is not the only one selling so expensive. Azoo is also selling very expensive with their products, a pack of Azoo Planted Soil selling for $60 which you can get it at only $35 at LFS. Another booth selling a 15watts fish tank light for $36 which can be brought at $15 - $20 at LFS.

Have to pay $8 just to go in and then have to pay even more to buy the things there. Find it not really worth the trip.[]

What's more not worth the trip is that after paying for the entrace fee, by 6pm (exhibition supposed to finish at 7pm), some of the stalls have already closed shop, a lot more were already tearing down their setup.

Too bad I reached only at 6pm yesterday. Next time either go early, or don't go at all!

Well CK11, like they say, the early bird catches the worm!
    =)

I find it an experience, being my first time there. Although there was not many stalls with interesting and new gadgets, it beats getting to different places to see different things. Moreover, can see some unique plants like from Tropica or MHs from Gisselman that we can't usually see in many of our lfs stores. Let's juz hope the new gadgets, like the fan and dymax MHs reach here soon! =)

    Cheers!

Let don't comment on the pricing of the plant / garget of Tropica and other manufacturer. I don't think that it is nice to discuss it here as I believe at some time, friend from other country might be reading this forum also.

AQ is the distributor for Tropica in Singapore, we dont deal with direct sale only distribution to lfs and do not a shop

I disagreed with the case of Azoo and Tropica's exhibition price .

Why didn't all the OEM utilize their key local distributors :
    - to promote their products at the booth together
    - local pricing (distributor knows best) plus discount for promotion
    - to save all the cost ,logistic and hussle of shipping for products in just for the exhibition for those products which are being sold locally.

=> cheaper/promotion price to attract new potential customer

    Negative side

=> scare away potential customer if he/she totally not aware of the product price locally at all as the first impression last a long long time.
