My hobby cost me a spike of $20 when I start. IMO if cost spike more then $50 very bad.
P.s: nothing to my MMO days when I had 5 pcs on multiple game clients each. HArdcore gamer/botter.

20 $ per month is normal
How much will 100kWh per overhead filter be translated to monthly bill size?

Looks like the internal pump is more powerful than a washing machine![]()

Considering that it runs 24X7, I think it is normal if your tank is 3ft or more ...![]()

You scared me with your first post !! Hahas !!
And depending on your model and for what kind of tank you use it to run, it is quite normalDont worry
Take a look at your wattage. You may or may not want to change it.
For your consideration, i am using Atman Canister Filter CF-600, uses 18watt
Base on consumption calculater, that amounts to about $3.50 per month which if you change to days is less than 20cents a day

200 kWh = 300 watts x 24 hours per day for a month. This cost approx $60.
Fluval FX5 pond filter consumes 50 watts.
Typical canister filters 20-30 watts.
Eheim 1262 pump with flow @ 3400 l/h 80 watts
Say a very inefficient pump that consumes double the wattage of Eheim 1262, that makes it 160 watts x 2 = 320 Watts. So yes it's possible an OHF can consume 200kWh a month. But does it generate 6800 l/h (3400 l/h x2) of flow? Or is the 2x OHF worth some 10x external canisters flow + filtration?
I guess you know what to do with your OHF's now if it indeed consumes 200 kWh monthly. You can pick up a brand new Eheim pro 3e and the electricity saved will pay itself off in a year, or say a china Atman and it'll pay itself off in less than 2 months.
I think kWh are calculated base on year http://www.energysavers.gov/your_hom.../mytopic=10040
I am not very sure too and would like to know also.

Are you running a chiller for your tank? Adding pump raises tank temperature.
