There is a new fan @ aquarama...The whole fan is encase in an aluminium casing. It doesnt look like a fan... It is a taiwanese brand but i cant remember the brand. Anyone know where it can be purchase?

Its a blower fan, there is a smaller version sold by Globalwin for cooling HDD.
BTW, you can find this type of blower fan @ Sim Lim Tower.

u can try 4th to 6th.. those shops selling perpherial should have it.. ask for HDD cooler by Globalwin
Its Sim Lim Tower, try walking around. I have seen it selling @ afew shops. You can try Multilink on the top floor, the whole shop sells fans.
Else, you can try asking for blower fans.

Those blower fan (company fans) with clip for aquarium generates high spinning noise . This tornado fan was very quiet while standing close to it to hear.
Also, the tornado fan is able to shift from the 2mounting bars in and out depends where you want to cool . How much can bring down the temp and the turbulence it creates no one know yet. There are two models being displayed during the exhibition, the smaller one the taiwan guy said was around $60 and the big one around $80-90. At the price depends on the local distributor and the retail.
I had been waiting for this fan since sept after seeing it from the Aquazoo magazine. Hope it is affordable.

low speed fans will have less noise. high speed fans will have more noise. and the noise is due to the fan blades leading edge cutting through air. so if the fan is capable of moving huge volumes of air, it will be noisy.
this fan will be cost much more than normal dc fans. normal dc fans are mass market items while this fan is new in the aquarium scene.
