If I use pieces of mesh with fissiden, do I still need soil or should I use some other substrate?

    Yes, I'm keeping shrimps too.

And a driftwood with moss tied on it.

fissiden doesnt require substrates to grow, but substrates does maintain certain water parameters that are suitable for shrimps..

Depends on your own preference bro kermit.. But if I can, I will use Benibachi Soil or maybe Borneowild soil.. There are fellow shrimp keepers who use ADA2 as well..

Should I use US Fissiden for foreground? But I really do not like the wire mesh look.

Glosso? Please someone recommend me something for my new tank. No CO2 and chiller. Just fan.

Glosso need Co2 injection. Probably you can purchase from the bro in the forum that has Fully matured US Fissiden on mesh where by it will not be that obvious to see through the SS Mesh

Sounds good but how will fissiden grow? Sideways across the mesh eventually? Covering it all assuming it grows well?

then maybe you can try finding people who are selling matured fissiden on mesh.. then you won't have the wire mesh look. but prepare to pay more though.. or maybe you can try going for hairgrass. i seriously doubt glosso will survive given low tech.

Great..I'll definitely take note of this option. Hairgrass, I tried but didn't do well.
