Healing injured fish

Has anyone successfully used any sort of fish medication to heal an injured fish?

One of my female red zebras was attacked after breeding.
When I came back from work I saw her floating upside down without a tail and fins.

Thank goodness it was still breathing when I came back. Segregated her and added lake Malawi salt in her compartment to reduce stress.

I've just bougth and tried melafix, not sure if it'll help.

Anyone with similar experience?

Anyway, here's the before and after. Really heartbreaking to what happened to the poor fellow.

My poor gal is dead!

Last night I thought she made progress by trying to swim about.

This morning her gills were not moving and finally she's dead. =(
