Got this unique piece recently, from the most unexpected location of all...
Seriously, this type of pattern should be sent to Japan or Taiwan, but don't know why it ended up in South East Asia and finally, in Woodlands..
Anyway... that is why i call it "Lost" and "Princess " because it's a female..

enjoy the pics... (taken by a friend of mine, presario316)..

    size is around 3-3.5 inch

anyway when you see it 'live' more sweeee, when i first saw it also "lau nua"... the picture cannot do the fish justice..

Is there a comparable mate for it? Any project on for it? If yes, looking forward for the offspring.

Haha, i like the last pose to be taken for Hypans that i like.
At this point in time as she is regarded as L333, i will try to find a very nice male to partner her..
Getting 1 'so-called mega crown' itself is a blessing... how to find a pair... haha

My "princess" turned out to be a "prince", hohoho, not a bad thing after all...

First timer dad didn't disappoint me, never eat a single egg.
And for a long time, first time I was so excited about my Hypancistrus spawn again haha...

    The lucky partner

The other yellow L333 from the same shipment, which I thought was a female, then male and lastly confirmed to be a female and a productive one too, 40 eggs in total ....
Hope some will look like the father...

    Re: The Lost Princess?

Here is the top view of the 3 fishes from the same source. Colour a bit off due to stress.
The female that bred is the one below, as you can see, she is bigger than the male. Actually, i didn't expect this to happen, even though i did hope for it to happen, haha... who doesn't, right...

Just want to point out here that smaller male can still do his work (trap, fertilize, etc.) As long as the pair "likes" each other. I think they differ by half to 3/4 of an inch...

    Re: The Lost Princess?

An interesting observation is that the egg size is much smaller than my female Alenquer L333 at almost the same size.
This could explain the higher number of eggs in a clutch. Usually i will only get 15-20+ eggs for my Alenquer and i was wondering why, but i did observe the much bigger egg size and thus wriggler size.
I managed to get double the amount of wrigglers from this spawn as the wrigglers seem to be half the size of the Alenquer when they hatch.

    Re: The Lost Princess?

The downside is that smaller sized wrigglers are more sensitive... from my experience... hope they will do well...

    Re: The Lost Princess?

Why do you have to worry? they will always spawn again. what you have while others don't is.. you have alot of fishes to play around with and thereby you gain more experiences from mistakes.
