Sharing some videos on Sulawesi habitats. Poison you guy to make new tanks haha!

    Lake Matano

    Lake Poso

    Enjoy!

PS, there's another video where you can link to where they catch those shrimps. Which they really caught alot but its kinda sad watch them pull them out their habitat, so i'm not posting that video. Hopefully we all can breed these shrimps successfully. Cheers.

Yes they are definitely quite a challenge to keep, which makes it even more satisfying when you can actually give them a good home. Actually the set up for Sulawesi shrimps is alot cheaper then a typical crs tank, no chiller, no soil etc. Just alot patience and care for these lovely critters. You're always welcomed to join us too bro

Nice share. Anyone knows what species are these white-pincered shrimps? Seems to be feeding on moss rocks.

uh oh.... couldn't wait. A bro offered to sell his 2ft... and since kena poison.... now cycling!!! All your fault for posting the video... hahahahahaha.
I am going to try on the planted and see how that goes. Just added some young plants from my planted and see how they fare. I haven't got a light yet.... so hopefully, the glare from my balcony is sufficient for its growth.

Yan, did I hear right?? A planted sulawesi tank??? I'd love to know which species will actually tolerate and/or thrive in that environment (besides java fern and moss).

Reading all these posts of sulawesi shrimps and setups is bad... *feel an itch coming...*

Wow this is cool. Anyone know what are the parameters of the tank? Looks like the plants do well in it too. I having been thinking if I changed my coral substrate to soil substrate of ph 7.2, then add coral rocks or chips to increase the ph, will I be able to achieve what is in the video?

Its worth a try, you'll never know what it'll turn out, might be good because soil lowers gh as well? don't quote me haha! what soil will you be using?

Ron.. go with the flow and "just do it" LOL. It won't be heavily planted but definitely need some green. I have flame in the current tank but they don't seem to do anything for the shrimp. Food particles get caught in it and even planaria "perching" on the moss... LOL.

I heard from Aristrocramata that their shrimps are kept at PH7... so 7.2 should be OK. My new setup, I use 3 types of substrate. 1st very thin layer of amazonia... since I have balance. Second layer, river sand and 3rd, coral sand (thin layer). Tank is being cycled at the moment so yet to check PH.

No need to think... just go ahead! LOL. Then you can cycle both tank at the same time.... 3ft planted and 2ft sulawesi.

I too started with planted about 10 years ago... with all the trimmings on a 4ft tank
Now I have a low tech using only lights and filter. Hardly dose fertiliser anymore and yet, plants are propagating. Wondering why I spent that much of $ last time.. LOL. I think "kena chop" like nobody's business those days!
