it will too overkill in my opinion. Can be done, but the cardinals will have a small problem with the swimming space and provided that the filter can handle bio load.

Advice from boss Felix

Hi
Can.but your filter if too big then the water flow rate will be fast so try to reduce the amount of water flow out. 2ft tank 50 cardinal tetra,5otos is ok but please don't keep increasing....ha ha.

I would see it from different angle. Would the tank look nice with 50 cardinal and 5 otos or would it look like can of sardine. Take note also that the cardinal you bought might be juvenile, it will grow bigger.

That's why I need all advice...keep it coming in.

It will be a planted tank with co2 powder and liquid fertilizer

I think it will not look nice. I suspect they will all spread out and and make your tank messy. But yes, it can be done. I know 1 person that did it.

Why not consider putting in less fishes. Sometime less is more.

I know of a forumer here who kept 100-200 neons and cardinals in a 2ft tank, and looking at his photo, it actually looked a lot less than the actual number... just make sure they have plenty of room to roam about and they will still thrive.

Can be done. I have a 2 ft tank with 80+ neon and cardinal tetras. Just make sure that your tank is well cycled and u add the tetras in batches.

It is a mature(5-6month) tank that is convert from a shrimp tanks.... I will be buying the fish from seaview, the reason I want to buy 50 is because it will be cheaper than buying below 50 and it looks better in biigger school. I hope it will not be so cramp like a bunch of sardines. Please kindly post a picture if you have more than 50 fish in a 2feet and below. Thanks you.

Actually if you go to seaview you have a rough idea how 50 tetra will look in a 2 feet tank right? My own experience is that neons don't school so closely in a small tank like 2 feet. They go everywhere. I think they feel more secure. It won't be too cramped, but I don't think they school too well. At least mine didn't in a 2 feet tank.

Imho, 50 cardinal tetras in a 2ft tank is too much.
You want the schooling effect, you need a 4ft tank for the school to swim about. Otherwise it will just be a bunch of cardinals crowded together in a LFS tank.

I Had 100 In A 2 Ft Tank, Because Of My Ignorance In Aquarium, About Half Died. The Others That Live, Did Not School At All. Basically They Are Just All Over The Tank.
Until One By One ... ...
I'm Left With 5 Black Neon, 4 Cardinal, 1 Puffer, 2 Otto, 2 CAE, 1SAE, 1Cory, And A Lot Of Knowledge Learn(Priceless).
As Much As I Like The Schooling Effect, I Had To Agree They Wont School In Such Small Tank.
Possible Might Be, All Over It Will be.

I didn't know puffers are compatiable with tetras. I had the impression you had to keep them alone.

they are ok, with other fish but they will eat small shrimp. I have them in one my my tank to control snail, but once the snail gone, they start eating shrimps. I saw with my own eye it attack shrimps and eat it.
big or small shrimps? i do have a puffer in my tank to clean up the snails and the tank has many shrimps as they keep on reproducing. maybe also good that the puffer is keeping the shrimps population in check? haha... so far haven't seen it attacking the shrimps although the snails are like almost gone.

If my buget can expand alittle, 35 tetra can anot?

We said 50 can but don't expect the fish to school. Same thing for 35.

Back when I had cardinals in my 2ft I kept up to 20 only. Don't forget, they will grow and a full grown cardinal looks a little too big for a 2ft tank to be honest. And yes, hardric is right, they won't school. The real schooling effect can only be seen in 4ft tanks.
