    murphy, I don't know the method of calculating ADA gravels, but just for a gauge, I use 1 small pack of powersand and around 3kg of aquasoil for a 1ft cube or 30x30x30cm tank

    prices are mostly fixed, but you can try Teo if you got the transport or simply go to keong seong at havelock

    renrub, lonestar is lapis sand.. aka normal gravel

    that's actually a very good question..... methinks it would be good to include a substrate gallery (with the product packaging) in AQ actually......

    You can't buy Lonestar gravel..... it's actually packaged in brown kraft paper sacks with the brand (if I remember correctly) RMC Monterey Sand followed by "Lapis Lustre" somewhere below. Basically, it's inert, fine pebbles which many folks use as a plain substrate or as a layer above base fert like JBL or Dennerle. I don't think it works well (aesthetically) with Aquasiol though.
