No wonder you have gone all quiet, you have been busy...
very nice!

I have been itching to have a planted tank and after a 10 year hiatus, here it is. I'm opting for low tech this time and will see how it goes.
I bought this tank with everything... wood, filter, moss, fern etc. Had to redo the whole tank as the soil was a year old and turning into mud. Managed to salvage some moss and wood... and added my own. I also strip my 30 x 30 cube and convert to sulawesi shrimp tank
Lots of different plants and still a work in progress.....

lol.... you won't believe the amount of work involved! Being sneaky behind's hubby's back and all..... very cloak and dagger stuff... until I had to ask him help carry the tank! hahahahahaha... if looks could kill! I was indeed quiet... but that was due to my laptop being brain dead. Had to have it replaced and now, I'm a happy camper all over again
Also, we were not home during the school holiday week... which was good Let it cycle longer but since I left a lot of the mud behind, and to prevent the water from clouding too much, I added river sand from my very old collectionSlowly but surely, spending $$$

good to know that at least the hubby carried the tank...well, all the best and i will be watching this space for more pics. And when i finally introduce shrimps in my new 1.5, i will update with pics too...hopefully pics of live shrimps...![]()
looks like some backbreaking job.. nice scape nevertheless!!!!

once the moss fills in. its going to be an awesome tank. thumbs up![]()
Advice from boss Felix

i am guessing no co2? very natural tank...good job.

I will be looking forward to seeing your posting
Backbreaking job was the washing and clearing of tank. Otherwise, all others I consider fun!![]()
Thank you. Yes, no Co2... trying out low tech.
I have some red nose shrimp and love to watch them hover around. However, I want to add some red in this scape.... so perhaps some cherry or sakura? Still considering but will have to wait till the moss is grown out and more plants added in for places to hide, in case we have babies!!!![]()

Nice scape! I like how you create a perception of depth with the placement of your driftwoods, makes the tank looks deeper than it is (1.5ft?). What is the broadleaf plant on the center-right of the tank? Is it an Amazon Sword? Which species? Looks good...

Thanks Dr_Enigma.
The uncle at the LFS didn't have a name for this plant but told me that the leaves turns red with sufficient iron. I wanted some other colours besides green and I wanted to see if plants similar to amazon sword will survive a non CO2 tank.... looks like it willIt does look like Echinodorus 'Reni' but I'm not sure.
Yes, the tank is 1.5ft... and still a work in progress![]()

hi Yany,
Your tank is gorgeous, need to ask you something noob..
1)can you share the lighting requirements? how many watts per gallon the 3 feet tank? how many hours per day?
2) will the shrimps eat JAVA moss you planted? i wanted to add some yamato n cherry as cleaning crew, but the auntie at LFS shared my java, spikey & pelia will be Eaten? as they are soft?

I am not PERFECT but I am LIMITED EDITION !!!BIG Tank comes with BIG Responsibility...as they makan a lot of $$....lol

So far, the 6 red nose are doing a great job... not that there's any algae around. They are not going for the plants so I got lucky with these. I'm thinking of adding some cherrys too for some colour
The bought mine from Polyart... and I believe I got the last oneIt was in the tank next to their counter since I started frequenting the 2 lfs there a couple of months ago. I wonder if there are more selection of plants in Pasir Ris. Plan to take a long drive there and check it out one of these days

Haha lucky you, shall try my luck there later.
Capricorn farm (pasir ris) stocks mostly the bread and butter of plants. Mostly stems and some crypt wendtii / parva, nana and their petite variant. You have to be quite savvy to be able to identify them.
Since you reside in the west, why not ask for the Oriental plant handbook from c328 auntie? From the book you get lots of information on the different types of plants, their requirements and height that they'll grow and you can order through her. Catch is that you have to come back the next day to collect.

Thanks for the advise. I have been reading up from Tropica and some other books I purchase a decade agoI do agree that it takes quite a bit of skill to identify the plants so, will be asking loads of questions before buying
Where else beside Capricon should I go visit. Seems like there are quite a few farms there.

I go to seaview at seletar farmway, quite good selection over there, prices are good as well. Worth a visit.

Seaview must go.. but try to reach there before 6pm...they close shop at 7pm(if no customers)
Items above 10 dollars might have 15% discount..look for the labels...

Managed to capture its picture. This is by far the most interesting resident I have. I inherited it when I bought the tank!

He/She loves to hang out at the rainbar trying to catch bubbles!! LOL

Nice looking tank. The driftwood make it looks bigger than 3ft. Got the wild look.
