My new scape, I called it miracle . Why? Because I'm growing HC without CO2 , it will be really a miracle if it is grow . Not that I do it on purpose, recent safety regulation in my office does not allow pressurize gas tank inside office . One thing in mind, if the HC does not grow I will just take it out and replace it with lapis sand

The scape was begin on early January 2011, just right after new year holiday. Just nice to start new year with new scape . Nothing special in mind when create this scape, it is just typical NA style

The photo below was taken about 2 weeks after setup. Without CO2 the plants grow are realy-realy slow but HC does not melt which is really a good sign. After this photo take, I decided to dose excel regularly. I will update plant grow rate result after HC dosing soon.

    Re: 2ft scape Miracle

Looks promising! The "tree" is a few branches tied together or one piece? Always wanted to do a scape like that and call it Lone Tree Hill.... but now cannot already since you did it.

But now March already leh... no latest shot ah? Or reserving for ADA?

Its a one piece wood. You can still do it , infact this scape is simillar to my previous scape.

Will update again soon, the next photo was taken end of Feb but need to search the photo first. It somewhere in my computer . The grow rate is dissapointing, even with regular excel dose. It probably wont make it to IAPLC

    Re: 2ft scape named "Miracle"

The photo below was taken end of February which is about a month from the precious photo. Plants is growing very slow despite the daily excel dose. Interesting part is the hairgrass grow shorter. The hairgrass was re-plant from the previous scape, so it already with submerse leaf. It addapt to new environtment, shed the long old leaf and grow new shorter leaf.

The HC grow is ok although it should be able to grow faster . Moss is growing skinny despide 24C water temperature, something that you normally see at high temp.

It make me think of doing DIY cO2 to meet the may dateline

Woah. very nicely done. very natural looking. envy your hc. looks like its growing quite well even without co2. Would look nice once the hair grass at the back grows lusher and hc fill your foreground. looking forward to your next update. NICE!!!!

    Re: 2ft scape named "Miracle"

thanks for your kind word. Actually it does not grow well. It is just poor point and shot camera combine with small picture so you can't see the detail

The truth is HC kind of stunt, most of the leaf are dark green color. It does not melt or rot but is not as fresh green as new grown leaf. I grow HC many time in CO2 enriched water, normally the leaf color is fresh light green

Very nice. The bogwood and branches just blend in so well with the rock curve.

Shadow, thanks for sharing your latest scape - always look forward to what you have in store.
The detailing of your scape is very intricate and I can't help but admire the rocky terrain you've built up for your feature wood piece and I hope it turns out as well as what you've envisioned.

On another note, I can understand if a nano tank is in an office environment, but a 2 footer with a large variety of plants and layout that's this complex, I am boggled by how you are still able to focus on work while maintaining this beauty!

I'm working at the most Aquatic hobbyist friendly company . Some of the manager and director even have 3ft tank in their office room . Freshwater, marine, discuss, CRS, you name it , OK no Arowana yet . However there are certain safety rule that we need to follow such as no CO2 tank and submersible filter (but I'm using Eheim ). They are OK with external filter as long as it has electrical safety standard like CE, UL, etc.

Actually it is very refreshing looking at greenery once a while after long our looking at computer monitor

The plant was not growing yet, so the ember tetra color blend to the stones color. It should look more prominent once the plants fully grow... hopefully

That's a really cool working environment.
I want to go home early everyday because the tank is at home. In your case, you may stay in the office longer because of the tank!

    Re: 2ft scape named "Miracle"

I decided to do DIY CO2 because with current grow rate it wont be able to meet the May dateline

    My recipe:
    2 cup sugar,
    1/4 teaspoon baking yeast
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

I read that we should use wine yeast instead of baking yeast because baking yeast will not last long due to the alcohol concentration. Not sure how true it is but since I don't know where to get wine yeast lets just forget it and use normal baking yeast

    Shadow,

You may wish to try this shop for brewer's yeast - however the price is pretty steep per satchet, unless you are able to buy in larger quanties.

    http://www.ibrew.com.sg/Yeast.asp

I noticed they are located in Clementi near GreenChapter. Good luck!!
