I use Sudo Sand myself. Another alternative I know is ADA Rio Negro Sand.

Hi folks, i am looking high and low for fine sand like substrate suitable for cories. I hope for the substrate to be light in colour. Similar to those that we can find at the beach. But hopefully will not alter the water paramaters.
Anyone have anything in mind which i can go for? I have seen the sudo bottom sand but i do not really like the colour.

Have looked throught many sites already. Seems like ada no longer produce the rio negro sand anymore. Looks like have to look for other alternatives.
I think C328 sells marine reef sand, which seems like it's quite fine as well. Not sure if they are suitable though. Cories don't get alot of choices in their substrate. Heh.
Setup: ADA Cube Garden 45-P, Starlitz Clear 45, Eheim Aquacompact 40

I been reading and discovered that some people use 'play sand' as substrate. maybe it will work.

SUDO bottom sand is supposed to be suitable for cories. It has a picture of cories on the front.![]()
You can get it in a 5kg bag at C328 or at Wu Hu (Tiong Bahru). The colour is a bit darker than beach sand: it's more of a medium shade of brown.

Playsand meant for play grounds and sand pits for kids may or may not be suitable for Corydoras, depending on the grain size and shape. Rounded oolite sand is best if you can find any, though they may alter your water parameters slightly. I use Sudo Sand for my Corydoras and they do fine in it. However, I feel the Sudo Sand has a fair bit of "crap" in it. Found silvery pieces, bits of burnt wood etc among the gunk that I sift out each time I open a bag and wash a small amount before use. As with all substrates, use with caution. Again, with sand it is crucial to keep the depth as minimal as possible. Never go beyond 1cm depth if possible unless you like to rake the sand frequently to release trapped gases, fish poop and uneaten rotting food.
