Group gathering for the 1st time????

Hi guys,

I would like to gather more suggestions and ideals of the group outings or maybe BBQ first.

All can post and suggests, then will start new thread to gather help.

I will start with 2 polls, one is BBQ at downtown east only, there other will be visit pasir ris area fish farms then follow by BBQ at downtown east.

Note that if visit fish farms will incur more cost like transport and logistics etc. So do poll wisely.

There will be cost involve to buy BBQ items.

Mod and admin, if not ok, please delete the thread and let me know.

Also, i suggest everyone took a picture of the planted tanks you are proud of, as can share during the BBQ!!! I can help to print to size 8 by 12 inches, as i in this line, the cost is very low, definitely cost to cost to all bros here!!!!

Alternatively,is having two groups a better idea?
Meaning that it's more flexible for others to just join the BBQ,the outing to the farm is optional?

I attended 2 AQ gathering before, the first is a LFS trip followed by a aquascaping session conducted by Biotope, and the second is a aquascaping photographing session conducted by Benny, which if I am not wrong was the last AQ gathering last year.
David, it is a good idea to have another gathering again but let's see how is the respond like?

Opps... by gathering, I took it to mean getting together for no reason other then to socialise (maybe include a farm/shop crawl). The rest, I think of as events.

For "gatherings", in the early days, we used to organise quite a lot. There was even a period we tried monthly gatherings... but response was poor.

The last AQ gathering was either last or the year before. Joint held event with the former Biotope

Most times people state that the time is not suitable even though we try to organise on weekends, alternating between Sundays, Saturdays and either early or later part of those days. In the end, we found we get most response for events like workshops, but not for just "gatherings".

There was also a period when lots of people were keen on trips to LCK and other farm areas to visit Teo's, Gan's, etc. After a while that crowd thinned out also.

Count me in if just chit chat BBQ. If farm tour is optional will be better IMO.

let's see after 5 days how is the result, then i start new thread according to poll results. wonder who is keen to print photo to see, or now everyone use ipad don't need prints any more

Our power is very little. The event definitely need sponsors to step forward. And only those commercial ones will have the financial means to conduct this.

I do think that a BBQ outing if we manage to have quite a number,the costs can be spread more evenly..

BBQ or gathering either one is good. You need to layout the programs for the whole duration. Topics covering, demonstration, sketching(aquascaping), etc etc??? You need to collect $ inadvance if you are organising BBQ incase the person didnt turn out etc. Most time people take things for granted! The most Important thing is you need a influence person to attract the interested party or a good talker in this hobby. Looks like this hobby is getting more and more quiet nowadays! All hiding in the mountain. IMO
