    Hi all,

I have a 2 feet tank which is only about 5 inches above the floor. Can I still use a canister filter, placed on the floor? I have read some where that a min height is needed. Is it true?

    Thanks!

What about some ppl who use cannister filter for their fibre glass pond?Do u know how to start a cannister?U have to suck the water into the filter from the tank before u can turn on the power.Maybe a height is needed to let the water from the tank to flow down.

I have a 2.5ft tank that just about 4 to 5" above floor and am using atman3336 on the floor with no problem. This filter has no self-prime function.

as long as the water level is above the top of your filter, you should not have any problem. once water starts to flow, the filter inlet is fed by siphoning while the filter outlet is driven by the pump.
