    Hi,I'm looking for a set of new 4ft double fl light.Can anybody advice on which brand is more reliable?Thanks

    go to lfses and have a look.
    don't choose the cheapest available. []
    anyway, fl has been around for so long, most are reliable. except those which suffer from poor quality and shoody workmanship.

    You might want to check out the PL lights from Nature Aquarium. I believe many people here got their lights there also.

    If I remembered correctly, a set of 4ft 36W*4 with e-ballast cost ard $180.

    Hi Gab,

    Why u want to buy FL?Do u noe that PL consume less electricity than FL? U see the watt of a PL is alot more than a FL hor?But hor...PL better.FL not say not good,is jus that if u wan to buy a FL the standard like PL liddat good very ex.

    Thanks for the advice guys,the reason I opted for FL instead of PL is because my tank consist of fishes only unlike planted tanks which have to on for long hours to promote plant growth.Also,excuse me if I'm wrong,heard some of my friends told me FL tube are more easily available and cheaper in LFS.Rgds

    specialise fl tubes from lfs are more expensive.
    get your light and tubes from lighting shops, it will be cheaper.

    Those tubes in lighting shops are not design specially for aquarium use.Is for home use only.

    while this is true, does one really need specialised aquarium fl tubes? these tubes cost a lot more so this is up to individuals. normal daylight fl tubes are good enough for lighting up tanks and plants.
