Nice and simple bro... Are you using soil beneath your sand... If no soil might afraid your plant won't grow and rooted well...

thanks bro, yes i followed c328 auntie's advice and added 2 bags of JBL aquabasis plus below the top layer of sand.

bro can help me ID if my foreground plant is e.tenellus? i'm really new to this hobby and afraid i might have gotten the wrong stuff...

Re: my first tank, 6' semi-planted tank

No worry bro... Is a tenellus... Best spread them further apart more as they really spread fast...

Care to share more of your tank spec, light and any co2 injected...

Re: my first tank, 6' semi-planted tank

oh sorry i'm new here, tank specs as follows:

    dimensions: 6' x 2.5' x 2.5'
    filtration: dry / wet sump
    lighting: 8 tubes T5HO
    co2: none
    chiller: none

honestly bro apistoinka, i have no confidence in growing the moss (and maybe some other plants already inside). they are x'mas moss and i think they require low temperature.... my T5 lights are extremely hot and very near the water surface..... your thoughts on this?

Re: my first tank, 6' semi-planted tank

It might be hot for your moss bro... That is a very high lighting for your tank... Moss will be a problem than... Maybe you can try to invest co2 as most plant inside need co2... Or else the plant won't be growing nice enough... With co2 and such a high lighting your tenellus will grow very nice with some red colour on it...

You can try japonica bro... Is kind of bushy and nice... Since you have bought your co2 and you have a high lighting you can plant almost any plant already bro... No worry about it... But do remember that red plant need iron... Tiger lotus also a good choice...
