Media for eheim canister preference

Hi folks

Would like to know what are your preferences of bio media in your eheim or other canister filters.

There are different media in the market, care to share which one works better?

Need some advice as I'm in the midst of considering what to use for filter media.
All advice will be greatly appreciated!

i find that the range of products from sera and oceanfree are pretty decent too.
oceanfree is pretty cheap as well.

For me, 3 different media for 3 different tray.

Mr Aqua CR, Biohome Plus and Ehiem Substrate Pro.

hi,

i use mr aqua CR small size to replace the ehfimech. similar functions, disburses water just fine.

prefer substrate pro and seachem matrix over biohome. through experience, substrate pro clogs lesser compared to biohome. easier to clean too. rinses right off.

am assuming that since clogging reduces available bacteria colonisation surface....

For me I placed Bio-Home+ and Ehiem Substrate Pro in my Ehiem.

For me; bottom put some Ceramic Hex rings act as pre-filter(Solid Ceramic retaining the temperature better), follows by 5L of Eheim Substrate Pro, some porous (can view those tiny hole with naked eye) and Reddish BIO rings (Red means prone to Acidity) buy from LFS, approximately 4L. Topper by Honeycomb Mess and Wools

Does biohome. n biohome + disintegrate over time? Mine like can break into two easily.

It's does slowly break apart. But it's will take quite sometime from what I observe.

i have tried a few different brands and types, biohome+ is still my preferred choice.

Folks whom swears by bio homme, may i know why you like it so much?
Is there a big difference when you try other product and bio homme?

Hi Bro

The uncle from the LFS told me that due to the special surface of Biohome +, they are able to cultivate bacteria better.

I do not know how truth is it but one thing for sure they do fetch a higher resale value. But having said that they do cost more.

I got mine because it was recommended by many bros.
