boiling will cause expansion and air trapped within will hopefully escape.. previously, i simply put in the mangrove root and weighted it down with a big piece of rock
Hey guys bought a piece of 'wood' from NA today,it's rather buoyant, quite unlike the bogwood that i used to position in my tank,by the way those pieces of 'wood' are actually mangrove roots rite?
Anyway would boiling increase its water retention rate(result in sinking) and would over boiling cause it to turn 'ginseng like'(become limp)?
Regards,
Jon

I am not so sure about bogwood, but for normal driftwood, over boiling will hasten its rate of disintegration underwater. Of course, it will not happen that fast.

Thanks bro. How much you paid for the roots?
Kenneth, you dug up a thread from 2003 and even if a price was given, would you think it's still relevant after 8 years???
Requested address is already provided. Best you check it out personally.

Its urgent bro, need me start a thread?
In this forum, as in any other, in order for people to adequately help you, it's often a case of details, details, details! or do members who offer assistance need ask?
I've not been to NA for a while. Others who know can chip in.
If you're around Clementi area, C328 and GC has driftwood, bogwood, plus those curly idunnowat woods. Prices can range from $5 to $200, that decorates 1ft cube to behemoth 6footers and larger. FYI, C328 is closed on Sundays. GC is closed today, 1st Jan and most Wednesdays, unless otherwise announced.
I won't guess what you will possibly require but as mentioned earlier, best to be at location, to choose and gauge your own needs. Adding further, no matter how urgent you want to set up the tank, a proper bio-cycling cannot be rushed without those ensuing questions, "why my fish died har??" Choice is yours, bro.

Ronnie Lee
