Just need to siphon it out when doing water change. Thats also one of the reason why some use darker soil color for shrimp tank.

Can you tell us what kind of filter you use? Cause water cloudy maybe you keep changing water and there no benefical bacteria. So may advise is use a small water piple to suck away the red particles.and add carbon to remove the smell and leave the water for cycle. After 3 to 5 day your water should be clear and smell should go away.
Everyday is a good lesson to me. Learn as you grow...
what kind of shrimps are you keeping? Shrimp poo should not be red....

I hardly see .. what sand you are using?
just normal river sand for fish aquarium?
if its poo, it should look like mucus already. otherwise it looks pretty much like scraps of red sand from the lava rock beside it?
poo should be break down by BB , circulated and suck into filter and further breakdown
therefore should only clean the filter once in a while
Your one chunk of poo means its a dead spot
suggest to siphon out that part thoroughly, put a air pump to circulate the water as it seems to be the side of the tank
when doing this, remove your shrimps to avoid them in ammonia spike
if you are using HOB, move it to that spot to further filtrate the debris
and your water looks yellow and cloudy
put active charcoal for a few days
sand or soil will face the same problem. it is the cleaning technique. : )

I seldom see people having both in the tank, is it not recommend?
i see many big chunk of red scraps around my sand.. sand is river sand... i use small sucker to suck out and clean the sand...every week my water should contain most of them flying around if disturb.. no they be settleing in the sand bed...my dolpine canister filter also have full of them....i clean my filter evey 2 weeks...my pipe also have them...think areadly invade my whole tank haha
they are not lava rocks...i put lava rocks to try cultaive more BB to combat n break them... until now no success....think have to change 1-2 water change per week.... will come back again....
Could it be excess shrimp's food ?
any suggest from expert here?? to clear the red stuff. thinking of attach power head to my canister inlet filter to suck the red dirt up...
hear from forumers here they use wave to stir the dirt? is it workable?
A suggestion: point the outflow of the filter to the poo area
