I know there is a UP brand PH meter which you can get at Seaview for 80+, if not you can try ebay.

    Re: ph meter/pen

all ph pen pretty much good as long as you calibrate it before use

meaning, you need to buy the ph4 and ph7 solution to recalibrate it once in a while

Not sure on the difference of ph pen and ph meter. Is the ph meter is the one that you put into the aquarium and gives you 24/7 check on the ph?

If yes, I found that is more convenience but it would make ur tank more cluttered with gadgets. Which is why I opted for ph pen

yep a meter is the one that u need to put the probe in the tank 24/7. i find it more convenient and using Ac power save the hussle of batteries operated ph pen.

I was reading about the pH pen's sensor bulb needs maintenance, soaking in some liquid or what, not sure. Is this true?

all ph pen and meters need maintenance. we need to buy the ph solution and calibrate it once in a few months.

I'm always afraid to get a pH pen because of the sensor need proper storage. Wiki telling me that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PH_mete...e_glass_probes

    Re: ph meter/pen

For this reason, we use ph=4 and ph=7 buffer solution to counter verify the pen.

Does yours come with 2 different calibration screws for the PH4 and PH7? Reason I asked was because mine only has one calibration screw and when I calibrated the 6.86 solution and put into the PH4, i would need to adjust again and wouldnt that screw up my previous calibration of the 6.86? Since its the same calibration screw?

Only one calibration screw. Set to ph7.0 for buffer solution ph7. Use buffer solution ph4 to check if the pen is giving out ph4.0 reading. it should as mine does.

Haha, I just did 6.86 and put it back to my tank after that, I also used a liquid test kit to make sure it doesnt go too off. Thanks anyway
