Got it done at around $80 +/-, feel so stupid when I can get it done at a much lower price at Serangoon North shop. Paid a high price just because it has a better finishing. Talking of it now, I am so regretted about it.

Bro eviltrain is right, Im using those polypropylene board which can be easily found at Popular bookstore. It is commonly used for those display purposes.

It is to cultivate more BB in tank. Actually for me is monkey see monkey do. But if it does help in cultivating more BB then why not?

Thanks. In fact no. For my previous 1ft plus set up, my PH suddenly shot up to 7.3 at one time and encounter quite a few shrimp death. Water parameter became very unstable at that time and slowly my shrimps became lesser and lesser until zero. This can be consider my comeback CRS tank. Hope from my previous experience, I can do better and be successful this time.

Yep, just did another reset. It's much better now!

I love the idea of your 1L bottle for water change. I'm going to steal that idea! haha! I can use it for water change and drip acclimatizing!

Nice setup. I liked the partition and the customised filtration inlet/outlet which is quite cool.

Just wonder do we really have to mix the substrate like this case using ADA Amazonia II as base and Benibachi Black Soil as top layer? What is the rationale behind it?

Good to hear that things are getting better for you now. Have been reading your thread but didn't post anything on it, really no idea what causes the high PH rise?

I also thought of only resetting the tank which you have already decided to do so. Do keep us update of your progress.

That dripping mug is really a simple DIY, think before me should already have people thought of this idea.

    Thanks bro.

The ADA II is the unused left over from my previous set up. Don't want to waste it lying around so used it as the base and top it off with a new packet of Benibachi Black Soil.
Have checked before, both types of soil has the same ability to lower PH so logically it should be alright to mix both. Hope I am right.

Thanks bro. Just using normal AC air pump. Should have thought of using ACDC air pump instead. Now that you ask me, I should have thought of it earlier on.

Thanks for reply. I thought ADA soil is something special so mixing them together with Benibachi will have better effects on the shrimps.... hehe :-)

revo79, do your metal valve on your 1L jug rust?

I use a green plastic valve and use silicon to glue it to a big plastic container (those takeway food container). But the green plastic valve cannot close fully or near to full to let me have a very slow drip. End up I bend the airhose which was connected to the green plastic valve and use fastner to hold the bent part to further reduce my drip rate for acclimatizing

err how do u fix the dripper tap into the plastic mug?
    need to glue up?

I use normal tau huay container and poke few tiny holes and pour water to let it drip into tank
I was thinking of changing to my 1.5l empty distill bottle

Haha.....Nothing special, just finish the leftover ADA soil so wife won't complain service yard has alot of rubbish lying around. End up I have some Benibachi soil left over but I kept it nicely in a container so she won't nag. Quantity not alot so just keep for future use.

So far, I did not notice any rust after using it for 1 year plus, previously was using it for acclimatizing my shrimps connected to a small air tube.

Now I am using the green plastic valve for acclimatizing my shrimps but I still can manage to have a very slow drip. Maybe you have to tighten it more.

No glue is involved. First I screw in a philips screw into the mug, this part need to use some force as the plastic mug is not that thin compared to those mineral water bottle. Use a screw smaller in diameter than the metal valve's rear hole. Best if you have a screw that is near to the valve size but smaller by abit in diameter only. After you got a hole in the mug then just screw in the valve. This is easily done as I notice the rear end of the valve also have screw thread on it. Having a hand held drill can make your job much easier, too bad I don't have one so have to do it this way. Actually before I start on this DIY, I am prepared that this may fail as it may leak. But even if it leaks, apply a bit of silicon should seal up the leaking part. Luckily for me, the hole and the metal valve is a perfect fit.

    Shrimps pictures

This is my first time posting pics of my shrimps on forum. Please pardon me for the lousy quality pictures, don't have good photography skills as mentioned before.

Only a few clearer pictures to show.....

Re: Finally pluck up courage to post my 2ft tank set up

In the first picture of the shrimps that I shown, there is a piece of CRS that its body is almost transaprent. Know that it could be due to stress but shrimps have been in tank for a week already. Most of the shrimps have regained its whiteness except for a few pieces. I also notice a few shrimps have a transparent line in between its head and the body after molt. Previously, it was not like that. Understand that it must be my tank water that is causing all these problems. Would like to know how do I improve it and what causes these to happen?

My water parameter are as follows:

    Ph: 6.29
    Ammonia: 0ppm
    Nitrite: 0ppm
    Nitrate: 20ppm
    Kh: 2dkh
    Gh: 6dkh
    TDS: 146ppm
